are a great tool to use in creating your digital scrapbook pages. Our layered scrapbook templates can be used in Photoshop Elements or Photoshop. Templates can be customized with your own photos, papers and embellishments. Template layers can also be moved and customized individually.
Follow the instructions below to add your photos, papers and embellishments.
Locate any digital photo files that you want to include in your layout.
Collect or locate any digital files for scrapbook papers, embellishments, trims, etc. If you don't already have a collection of digital scrapbooking files, you can download FREE
background papers
or
embellishments
here and at several other sites. There are many free files available as well as files available for purchase.
Do a "Save As" to create a duplicate copy of the template. This will allow the original free scrapbook templates file to remain untouched to be used in future projects.
Select Background layer by clicking on it to highlight it.
Open either a digital paper file or a photo file that can be used as a background.
Copy your background paper or photo to the background layer by dong a "Select all" on your background or photo file, copy and paste to your template file. Adjust position and size as needed. Size changes can safely be made to reduce your images, but enlarging more than 10-20% will cause poor image quality when your layout if printed.
In your template file, select the layer that you want to use to provide the shape for your photo or paper. Go back to your paper or photo file. Click on the layer you want to copy and drag it to the template file, placing the photo or paper file on a layer directly above the shape layer in the template.
While holding down the Option key (Mac) or ALT key (PC), move your cursor over the line between your two layers in the layers palette until a small arrow with two interlocking circles appears. While this symbol is visible, click on the line between your two layers that contain the shape you will be using and the photo or artwork that you will be using. This process creates a clipping mask. You can now select your photo or artwork layer and move it within the shape so placement adjustments can easily be made.
Repeat the above step with each shape layer on your template until all shapes are filled with photographs or artwork. If there are any layers you choose not to use, just turn the layer off so it is no longer visible.
Add any embellishment artwork that will enhance your layout.
Select any of the type layers. Edit the type to reflect your own story.
Save the layered PSD file.
Do a "Save As", saving your file in the correct final file type for printing. In most instances this will be as a JPEG which will automatically flatten your layers. This is why you have also saved a copy of the layered file. Once the file is flattened and saved, it will not be easily editable.
Check in often as our selection of free scrapbook templates will change regularly.
